Utah Young Professionals Host Third Annual Project Show and Tell at Spanish Fork WRF
July 10, 2025

In June 2025, J-U-B’s Young Professionals (YPs) from the Utah offices gathered for their third annual Project Show and Tell, hosted this year by the Salt Lake City office at the Spanish Fork Water Reclamation Facility (SFWRF). This event series offers YPs the opportunity to explore local J-U-B project sites, network across offices, and showcase the impressive and diverse work being done throughout the company.

A Growing Tradition

Following successful events in Logan (2023) and Kaysville (2024), this year’s event marked Salt Lake City’s turn to highlight a flagship project. The SFWRF is one of J-U-B’s largest water treatment projects to date, designed to serve Spanish Fork’s growing community through 2040 with an average daily flow capacity of 6.7 million gallons.

Event Highlights

The tour included six main stops, each highlighting a critical aspect of the SFWRF’s design and construction:

  • Headworks Building: The group toured the three-story facility to observe how incoming wastewater is pretreated through screening, grit removal, and wet well processes.
  • BNR/MBR Basins & Support: The team learned about the underground piping and utility systems connecting treatment areas, as well as the design and function of the biological and membrane filtration processes used for nutrient removal.
  • UV Disinfection & Reaeration: The tour included a look at the UV disinfection system and pump station, which distributes treated water across the plant and increases oxygen levels before discharge.
  • Effluent Metering & Railroad Siphons: The final stop covered the effluent flow system, including a metering vault and a siphon structure designed to carry treated water beneath railroad tracks using pressure-driven flow.

Project Overview

Designed from 2020–2022 by J-U-B’s Water Treatment Group in partnership with subconsultant Stantec, the SFWRF project has been under construction since fall 2022 and is expected to be fully operational later this summer.

Team Collaboration

The success of the SFWRF is the result of collaboration between the Salt Lake City, Kaysville, and Coeur d’Alene offices, as well as numerous technical teams within J-U-B. J-U-B also coordinated with subconsultants for architectural, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical/instrumentation work.
