We’re proud to announce that Tom Ruby, Survey Equipment Technical Lead in the Twin Falls office, has been elected Chairman of the Idaho Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (IPELS). Tom was originally appointed to the Board by Governor Brad Little in May 2020 and recently completed his first five-year term. Throughout his tenure, Tom has served in multiple leadership roles, including Board Member, Secretary, and Vice Chair. He is currently awaiting reappointment for a second term.
IPELS is responsible for the licensure and disciplinary oversight of professional engineers and land surveyors in Idaho. The Board also issues Certificates of Authorization for consulting firms seeking to operate within the state.
“Congratulations to Tom on his well-deserved election as Chairman of IPELS! Tom exemplifies professionalism and is a remarkable advocate for advancing professional engineering and surveying in Idaho.
A heartfelt congratulations to Ray Watkins for his exceptional leadership as the outgoing Chairman of IPELS. Having back-to-back board chairmen from the same firm is unprecedented, yet it aligns with J-U-B’s longstanding dedication to our profession, dating back over six decades to Sumner Johnson’s early role on the State Board.
The Chairman role demands significant time and dedication, reflecting both Ray and Tom’s unwavering commitment to upholding the values and ethics of our profession. Congratulations once again to both of you and thank you for your outstanding efforts!”
