Electrical and Control Systems Upgrades at Water Reclamation Facility
J-U-B’s Electrical Engineering Group provided electrical and control systems design and construction management services for upgrades and technological improvements to the City’s regional Water Reclamation Facility (WRF). Working with J-U-B’s Water Treatment Group, the project delivered a comprehensive suite of improvements across the facility.
Scope of Work and Key Facility Enhancements
The project included:

New 2,000 ampere utility service with 400KW parallel standby generators, including provisions for a third generator and a bypass isolation automatic transfer switch

New 1.63 MGD Wigen membrane filtration system and building, featuring:

Networked motor control system

Cable tray distribution

Vendor PLC and Plant PLC integration, control, and data sharing

New secondary effluent intermediate pump station

New rapid mix, flocculation, and plate settler tertiary clarification system

New plant drain pump station no. 2

New building for a Xylem UV disinfection system, including utility water pumping

Expansion of the duct bank system

Upgrade and expansion of the facility’s network and PLC control systems

Factory acceptance testing of all control equipment and startup assistance

Conversion of the existing Intouch Wonderware operator interface to Inductive Automation Ignition

Equipment modifications and additions to oxidation ditches and nutrient reduction equipment in oxidation ditches 5 and 6

New secondary clarifier no. 8 and RAS pumping
