A Revitalization Years in the Making
The Twin Falls Downtown Rehabilitation project has been a decade in the making, driven by the city’s emergence as a major hub in the Magic Valley. Over the past ten years, Twin Falls has drawn national attention by attracting well-known companies like Chobani and Clif Bar, while long-established industries such as ConAgra and Glanbia have continued to grow. This surge in industrial investment inspired a wave of commercial and residential development, including the addition of unique downtown attractions like the world’s first 100% ADA-accessible climbing gym. With this growth came a renewed sense of pride and a strong community desire to enhance and modernize the downtown area.
From Assessment to Action
The project started with a comprehensive assessment that uncovered deficiencies in utilities, roads, and sidewalks. This led to an extensive planning process that included preliminary design, robust community outreach, and ultimately, final design and construction. One of the standout elements of the project was the overwhelming support from community groups and local citizens, whose input and enthusiasm helped shape the vision for downtown Twin Falls.
A Transformed Downtown Core
The final result is a transformed downtown that now features improvements to five blocks along Main Avenue. Enhancements included updated streetscapes, improved pedestrian access, upgraded utilities, and the creation of a public commons area adjacent to the new City Hall. This revitalized core reflects the spirit of a community coming together to invest in its future while honoring its roots.
