Syracuse Regional Park – Syracuse City, UT

Project Overview

Syracuse City hired J-U-B ENGINEERS, Inc. to design their 50-acre regional sports park. An extensive master planning, public involvement, and preliminary budgeting phase was completed in 2018. J-U-B is currently under contract to provide construction documents, bidding assistance, and construction observation. Phase one is under construction, with final completion expected in fall 2026.

Design Considerations and Community Focus

While the park is primarily a sports complex, the design carefully preserves space for every member of the community. A large playground and adjacent plaza form a dynamic “heart” of the park, supporting city-wide events and activities.

Key Design Features

  • One-of-a-kind venues designed for both functionality and reduced maintenance

  • Detailed grading designs to ensure proper drainage and field playability on the flat site

  • Phase one irrigation system designed to support future park phases

  • Synthetic turf infield with under drains strategically placed in areas with highest salt content

Soil and Turf Challenges

Due to the park’s proximity to the Great Salt Lake, the native soils are highly saline. To achieve tournament-level sports turf, J-U-B’s landscape architects are working with soil scientists and sod farms to develop innovative solutions for soil treatment and turf growth.

This project combines thoughtful planning, technical precision, and community-driven design to create a regional destination for sports and recreation.
