Provo/Orem Transportation Improvement – Utah Co., UT

The Provo-Orem Transportation Improvement Project involved the reconstruction and widening of approximately 10.5 miles of major roadways to enhance transit, roadway, bike, and pedestrian infrastructure. As a $200M Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) initiative, this large-scale project was a partnership between UTA, UDOT, Mountainland Association of Governments, Utah County, Provo City, and Orem City. J-U-B was proud to play a critical role in this transformative effort, providing comprehensive surveying, mapping, and utility coordination services.

Our Surveying and Mapping team conducted extensive field verification, established GPS and conventional control networks, and performed topographic mapping to support the design and construction phases. We verified and documented existing right-of-way and property boundaries, researched county ownership records, and prepared right-of-way documents and maps for more than 80 properties. Our team placed 42 aluminum cap right-of-way monuments throughout the corridor and created a 3D CAD base map for civil design, ensuring a precise and reliable foundation for all project components.

In parallel, J-U-B’s Utility Coordination and Public Involvement teams worked closely with stakeholders to identify and resolve utility conflicts, manage risk, and engage the public. We mapped existing utilities, developed mitigation strategies, and created utility relocation plans in collaboration with the CMGC JV contractor, Kiewit/WW Clyde. Our utility coordination efforts were supported by risk management workshops and GIS services provided by GMI, while public outreach was led by TLG through community engagement, advisory facilitation, and digital communications. Together, these efforts helped deliver a more connected, accessible, and future-ready transportation system for the Provo-Orem region.
