Design-Build Electrical Engineering for North 40 Retail Store

J-U-B’s Electrical Engineering Group provided electrical design and construction management for the new design-build 88,678-square-foot North 40 retail store located on 6.5 acres in Airway Heights, WA. The facility was constructed using a pre-engineered metal building frame with exterior CMU and metal siding. This design has since become the standard template for future North 40 store expansions across the Pacific Northwest.

Project Scope and Key Features

The project included:

• Ongoing design modifications based on Owner and General Contractor input to create a state-of-the-art retail facility that balanced cost and an expedited construction schedule

• Site development including parking area lighting and a surveillance camera system

• A 1,200-ampere, 277Y/480V three-phase electrical service

• A 500KW, 800A, weatherproof, sound-attenuated diesel standby generator with automatic transfer switch serving the entire facility

• Innovative interior retail diagonal LED lighting system providing uniform illumination across large shelving and product displays

• Electrical distribution and fire alarm system

• Exterior garden center with pre-engineered fencing and open mesh roofing

• Indoor archery range, fly fishing retail space, gun counter, and secure firearms/ammo storage

• Office space, back storage, warehouse area, training room, lockers, changing rooms, and restrooms

• Electrical, data, and fire alarm systems

• Coordination of rough-in requirements for owner-furnished systems including security, sound, POS, and video
