Project Overview
The Bureau of Land Management Firefighting Single Engine Air Tanker (SEAT) Base project at the Mountain Home Municipal Airport involved the development of critical infrastructure to support aerial firefighting operations. The scope included construction of aircraft fire retardant loading pads with trench drains, water distribution lines, retardant mixing and containment systems, retardant distribution lines, and a double-lined evaporation pond for safe retardant containment. The project also encompassed utility upgrades and enhanced security measures across approximately five acres.
Environmental Services and NEPA Compliance
J-U-B’s Environmental Services Group (ESG) provided essential support for the project by conducting thorough biological and water resource surveys and preparing detailed environmental memorandums. The ESG also ensured the project’s compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), completing a Categorical Exclusion in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). In collaboration with J-U-B’s aviation engineers, the ESG played a vital role in both the environmental review and project design phases, helping ensure seamless coordination with regulatory agencies.
