Project Overview
Logan City hired J-U-B ENGINEERS, Inc. to reconstruct and improve the Center Street Corridor in historic Downtown Logan with the goals of making it more pedestrian-friendly and enhancing economic vitality. J-U-B’s landscape architecture team played a key role in improving the aesthetics, landscaping, and functionality of the corridor.
Design Features and Enhancements
-
Spaces for pedestrians to gather and for businesses to offer outdoor seating and tables
-
Planters and planter boxes with drip irrigation for efficient water use
-
Bike racks, tables, chairs, benches, trash receptacles, trees, and tree gates selected to enhance the streetscape
Infrastructure and Stormwater Solutions
The project required an innovative approach to address the existing combined irrigation and stormwater pipe running through the corridor. J-U-B designed a new drainage system to separate the two, incorporating roof drains and an on-site underground water retention system. This system allows most stormwater to be stored and naturally seep into the ground.
This project successfully revitalized the Center Street Corridor, creating a vibrant, inviting environment for pedestrians and supporting the continued growth and vitality of Downtown Logan.
