Proactive communities do not stand still in tough economies—the City of Hayden fits that description. The H-1 Lift Station is the City’s largest regional lift station serving nearly half the City’s flow. The project is unique and innovative with the following highlights:
- The team-oriented design approach scrutinized all aspects of the lift station’s ultimate location, its configuration, the design pump rates, and expandability.
- The project replaces unreliable, aging, and flood prone infrastructure with a new lift station ultimately hidden by low maintenance native landscaping.
- The aboveground features include an architectural design to blend with surrounding neighborhoods while utilizing cost-effective and maintenance-free building materials due to its proximity to the Hayden Lake Beach, Forest Hills, and other residential neighborhoods.
- The belowground infrastructure will remain the best possible long-term solution for pumping nearly half of Hayden’s wastewater three miles to its treatment location.
- The project fits nicely with the City’s long-term vision to beautify the area and improve their Gateway to Hayden Lake and Honeysuckle Beach—the City’s most prominent recreation corridor.
- The design and construction groups are all located within a three-mile radius from the project site, highlighting this lift station as a true local gem.
