For over 25 years, J-U-B ENGINEERS, Inc. has partnered with Davis and Weber Counties Canal Company (DWCCC), guiding them through comprehensive canal improvement projects from initial planning to final implementation. Our collaborative approach has secured funding for over 13 years of projects, transforming their vision into a modern, efficient water delivery system.
Phase 1: Planning & Prioritization: Partnering together, we developed a comprehensive canal master plan, identified critical projects, and estimated replacement costs. This plan served as a roadmap for the years to come. We secured grant funding to support this initial planning phase, laying the groundwork for future success.
Phase 2: Securing Funding & Implementation: Year after year, we worked diligently to secure grant funding for prioritized projects within the master plan. Over 13 years, we secured $14.5 million in grant funding, which supported 15 key projects totaling $32.9 million.
Phase 3: Transforming the System: These funds fueled a remarkable transformation of DWCCC’s infrastructure. Key achievements include:
- Piping and lining sections of the 8-mile open canal, improving water efficiency and reducing losses.
- Installing miles of large box culverts within the main canal delivery system, enhancing conveyance capacity.
- Replacing the Weber River headworks and forebay, ensuring reliable water intake.
- Metering hundreds of secondary water and irrigation users, promoting responsible water management.
- Integrating sustainable energy solutions by installing solar and hydropower to operate pumps and a workshop.
