208-232-1313Named for a Shoshone tribal chief, Pocatello came to be known as the “Gateway to the Northwest” due to the large number of pioneers, gold miners and settlers who traveled through the area by way of the Oregon Trail. Stage and freight lines soon followed, as did the railroad, transforming the community into a trade center and transportation junction.
