Davis and Weber Counties Canal Company Long-Term Plan
OVERVIEW

J-U-B has been the engineer for Davis and Weber Counties Canal Company (DWCCC) since the late 1980s. Much of our work has been planning, design and construction administration for large lawn and garden pressure irrigation systems. In July 1999, DWCCC’s main canal breached in Riverdale, Utah causing flooding and significant damage.

J-U-B was brought in to design the repairs through the breach and to prepare and execute a Long Term Plan for the design and construction of improvements for nine miles of canal through South Weber and Riverdale to carry 300 cubic feet per second along a geologically sensitive hillside. The Long Term Plan was required by the State Engineer following the canal breach and is closely monitored by engineers and staff from the State Engineer’s office. Since 1999, J-U-B has completed canal projects with DWCCC totaling nearly $20 million. These projects represent over 15,000 linear feet of new concrete canal lining, nearly 14,000 linear feet of reinforced concrete box culvert, and 6,000 linear feet of 102-inch diameter pipeline. J-U-B recently completed the design and construction of the canal headworks in the Weber River at the mouth of Weber Canyon. The diversion structure included four 18’x 9’ tainter gates in a 90-foot long concrete structure. DWCCC continually turns to the engineers at J-U-B as a trusted advisor.

“I have been privileged to work with J-U-B for the past 25 years. I am continually pleased with their efficiency, quality of work, and genuine concern for the success of our company. I highly recommend J-U-B to others.” (Ivan Ray, Manager, Davis and Weber Counties Company)
