Roads/Highways
County Line Road, Phase 2
City of Longmont, CO
OVERVIEW

J‑U‑B designed the reconstruction of approximately 5,000 linear feet of County Line Road, as a part of an on‑call services contract with the City of Longmont. This project involved widening the existing two‑lane rural roadway section to a new five‑lane urban arterial with curb, gutter, sidewalk, and bike lanes.

A complete roadway drainage system was designed, which included oil and debris snouts for water quality, to convey roadway runoff to inlets and storm pipes. The Oligarchy irrigation ditch was relocated to the east to accommodate widening the roadway; a 5‑foot by 10‑foot concrete box culvert was extended underneath the roadway; and a new diversion structure was designed to pass large volume flows. The project also included the redesign of 2,000 feet of farm irrigation ditch, including diversion boxes. Additionally, J‑U‑B completed a preliminary design of a reinforced concrete multi‑cell box for Spring Gulch and pedestrians. Because of this new drainage system and relocations, J-U-B was tasked with coordinating multiple agencies, utilities, the Great Western Railroad, and private property owners.
