Position Overview: Manage environmental collaboration and conflict resolution projects and provide direct mediation and/or facilitation services, as appropriateThe Langdon Group, a subsidiary of J-U-B ENGINEERS, Inc, is a conflict resolution and public involvement firm with offices in Salt Lake City, Utah, Kaysville, Utah, and Boise, Idaho. Our current work focuses on collaborative processes in transportation, water/wastewater, natural resources, environmental public policy, and infrastructure issues. We primarily work in the western United States. The range of clients we work with includes federal and state agencies, cities and local municipalities, Native American tribes, and private industry. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of a regional engineering firm, we support many planning and engineering projects.
The Senior Project Manager position provides an excellent opportunity for an individual with mid to senior-level project management and leadership experience to work on a wide variety of complex and diverse projects. The position is highly dynamic and requires an individual who is comfortable with ambiguity, is innovative, and has the initiative to work well on their own and in a team atmosphere. Being a self-starter is critical.
Key Functions and Responsibilities:
- Manage environmental collaboration and conflict resolution projects and provide direct mediation and/or facilitation services, as appropriate
- Works regionally in a variety of program areas drawing on qualified environmental mediators and facilitators, if necessary
- Develop and manage cases and projects from concept through completion
- Convening, conflict assessment and process design, and managing the provision of services
- Manages and leads staff teams with primary responsibility for developing programs and maintaining ongoing relationships with stakeholders as well as state and federal agencies
- Outreach to potential users of Langdon Group services
- Provide direct facilitation, mediation and/or training services, as appropriate
- Mentor, manage, and lead Project Managers, Associates, and staff members
- Contributes to other staff teams on strategic direction, training, new technologies, evaluation, and policy issues
- Leadership in the pursuit of new business opportunities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
- 7 + years’ experience of management experience and proven ability as a client manager and project manager
- Knowledge and background in some of the following fields: Natural resources, environmental, law, science, policy, planning, and management
- Proven collaborative problem solving experience in federal, state, regional, tribal, local government or private sector for public policy matters
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Education, training and/or work experience in a communication; public involvement; environment and public policy; and/or facilitation/mediation field
- Demonstrated interest in collaborative problem solving
- Ability to successfully supervise a team in a results-oriented process
- Ability to design effective processes for complex projects
- Has a general understanding of contracts and billing
- Strong interpersonal skills/relations to establish client relationships and maintain them through a project
- Excellent organizational, written and administrative skills
- Computer and related software skills (Adobe products, Microsoft products, etc.)
